Hi, my name is Tom Pollock and I’m a digital media professional based in Melbourne, Australia. I have a passion for telling stories through writing, photography and video.
I graduated from Swinburne University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism and Digital Media). While completing my degree, I gained valuable, ‘real-life’ experience through MFootball, a Melbourne football news website I created with friend and fellow Swinburne student Donald Sutherland. From 2012 until 2014, Don and I built MFootball into the biggest football site in Melbourne before moving on to develop NPL Victoria side Melbourne Knights‘ media department.
In February 2015, I was employed by the Victorian racing industry’s news business, Racing.com, as Social Media Coordinator. Over 12 months, I helped develop Racing.com’s brand in the digital space by implementing a social media strategy and improving raceday coverage with live photo galleries on Facebook and SnappyTV video clips on Twitter. I also assisted in producing TV news bulletins and covering sub-editing shifts.
I moved on to my current role as Communications Coordinator at Melbourne Sports Hub, the body responsible for managing Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Lakeside Stadium and State Netball and Hockey Centre, in March 2016.
